McCormick Environmental has cultivated raising red, green, and pink  abalone in the hatchery for research and commercial and purposes.  We have also outplanted thousands of abalone into waters of southern California to determine if restocking is beneficial to native stocks.  Working with the California Department of Fish and Wildlife and the National Oceanographic and Atmospheric Administration we were the first to produce White Abalone (Haliotis sorenseni) on a large scale in the nursery.  Theses abalone were used to determine optimal cultivation conditions for this species in the hope that enough can one day be produced to repopulate coastal waters off southern California.
